| PETER BAXTER Peter Baxter is Co-founder/President of Slamdance and a filmmaker. In 1995 Baxter co-founded Slamdance as an independent alternative to the Sundance Film Festival in Utah. Since its inception, Baxter has been responsible for developing and maintaining all areas of Slamdance. As Slamdance’s President, he has built an organization synonymous with the discovery of emerging talent. | KHAVN DE LA CRUZ Khavn De La Cruz is a very outspoken, experimental film maker with an unstoppable desire to explore and cross boundaries. Considered as the father of Philippine digital filmmaking, he is the most productive filmmaker in the Philippines and probably also far beyond. He has made twenty-three features and more than seventy short films, most of which have received prizes, given retrospectives, and presented in international film festivals. He has served as a jury member in the Clermont-Ferrand (France), Copenhagen (Denmark), Jeonju (Korea), Jihlava (Czech Republic), & Berlinale (Germany) film festivals. | CHRISTY DENA Christy Dena is Director of Universe Creation 101, where she consults on strategy and design of transmedia to agencies, corporations and production companies and is currently developing her own projects and services. She an active speaker worldwide, mentors film, television, literature and new media professionals, and judges cross-media and new media art projects. | JAMIE KING Jamie King is producer/director of the Steal This Film series, a documentary project notable for its pioneering release through 'pirate' sites using the BitTorrent protocol. It is the most widely watched of the films funded by the Channel 4 British Documentary Film Foundation and considered one of the most downloaded documentaries of all time. King has become a spokesperson for a growing movement promoting the possibilities of 'free culture' and free-to-share distribution of media as a viable alternative for filmmakers and other cultural producers. King has advanced the argument that for many filmmakers, P2P infrastructures can be a valuable way of reaching and engaging new audiences. To that end, in 2009, King launched the VODO project, which has been called by Moviemaker Magazine one of the '25 Resources that every indie filmmaker should know.' | JON REISS Named one of “10 Digital Directors to Watch” by Daily Variety, Jon Reiss is a critically acclaimed filmmaker who has produced and directed three feature films most recently Bomb It (Tribeca 2007) about graffiti, street art and the battle over visual public space throughout the world. Jon just published Think Outside the Box Office: The Ultimate Guide to Film Distribution in the Digital Era, the first step-by-step guide for filmmakers to distribute and market their films. The book was inspired by his experience releasing Bomb It with a hybrid strategy and the classes he teaches at Cal Arts. Jon also consults and speaks about distribution and marketing for film at festivals and forums throughout the world. | TIMO VUORENSOLA Timo Vuorensola is a Finnish director. He spent 7 on his first feature film, the sci-fi comedy Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning. Timo has also directed short films, music videos and adverts. He’s interested in finding new ways to approach the film industry, and has traveled the world talking about engaging online communities in film production. Timo has been working on a web platform called Wreckamovie.com, where the filmmakers, film projects and film enthusiasts can connect and collaborate.
