Hack Day (June 21)

Following the conference on Sunday, we’ll have a very informal and relaxed hack day. It’ll be in the same building the conference was in. It’s a time to decompress, collaborate, and play on your laptop. EVERYONE is welcome: video makers, coders, community organizers, and so on.

Have an idea for a hack day activity, screening, workshop, meetup, or anything else? Sign up for a room and time slot on our hack day wiki. Let the hacking begin!

Thursday: Creative Commons Salon / OVC Pre-Party

Creative Commons and the Open Video Alliance are joining forces and hosting a joint Creative Commons Salon and Open Video Conference Pre-Party, sponsored by blip.tv. Here’s your chance to meet cool people, see great presentations, and drink plenty of free (as in) beer. The Salon will feature a talk with Brett Gaylor, writer and director of RiP! A Remix Manifesto. The Salon will also have a live acoustic set by musician Adam McHeffey. It’s hosted at For Your Imagination, which is right next to The Gershwin, the official conference hotel. RSVP via Facebook, or by emailing fred [at] creativecommons.org.

Thursday: NY Video 2.0 Meetup

The NY Video 2.0 meetup is a monthly gathering of web video professionals to discuss the latest and greatest in online video products and trends. The event is a great way to network, see some cool demos, and network some more while enjoying a free round of drinks (at Voldenuit, a local bar) sponsored by Kaltura.

This month’s meetup features presentations by Epix, Tremor Media, Zixi, Motionbox, and ooVoo. The meetup is going to be held at the Tishman Auditorium at NYU Law School—the same venue as the Open Video Conference.
