Conference

The Open Video Conference (OVC) is a multi-day summit of thought leaders in business, academia, art, and activism to explore the future of online video. The inaugural OVC took place June 19-20, 2009 at NYU Law School in New York, with an informal hack day on June 21.
The first Open Video Conference was host to over 800 guests, including 150 workshop leaders, panelists and speakers. Over 8,000 viewers tuned in from home to watch the live broadcast. Speakers and attendees came from around the world, from places as widespread as New Zealand, Brazil, Germany, Denmark, India, Italy, France, UK, Colombia, Australia, Argentina, and more. The event earned coverage in WIRED, NewTeeVee, BBC News, Filmmaker Magazine, and The New Yorker.
Partner organizations for 2009 include Harvard’s Berkman Center for Internet and Society, NYU Law’s Information Law Institute, Creative Commons, Free Press, Columbia University’s Center for New Media Teaching and Learning, the Workbook Project, Fundação Getulio Vargas Brazil’s Center for Technology and Society, NEXA Italy, Public Knowledge, and more.
